Some Republican-led states and manufacturers blasted the EPA’s latest interstate ozone proposal, expressing opposition to the agency’s tougher pollution limits and new industry targets.
States, clean air groups, advocates, and industry submitted final comments on a Tuesday deadline for the Environmental Protection Agency’s “Federal Implementation Plan Addressing Regional Ozone Transport for the 2015 Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standard.”
The Federal Implementation Plan (FIP), proposed in March, ups nitrogen oxide limits and adds requirements for new states and industries, in efforts to stem ozone wandering into downwind states and interfering with air quality law compliance.
