Louisiana to Intervene in Lawsuit Over New Orleans Flood Control

Louisiana may intervene in a lawsuit over a flood control measure near New Orleans, because the state proved that its interests are inadequately represented by the existing parties, a Mississippi federal court said.

Mississippi’s secretary of state argues in its lawsuit filed in December that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers failed to properly consider the impact to the Mississippi Sound when it conducted an environmental review of opening the Bonnet Carré Spillway.
