Local governments in Louisiana would be banned from prohibiting natural gas utility connections, under a bill headed to the governor’s desk.
No Louisiana municipalities have suggested doing so yet. But a growing trend of such bans in states less friendly to the oil and gas industry was worrisome, state Sen. Stewart Cathey Jr. (R), the sponsor of S.B. 492, has said. The Louisiana Senate unanimously gave the proposal final approval late Thursday.
