Lobbyist’s Claims Against Law Firm Over Superfund Fraud Rejected

An Alabama lobbyist who worked with a law firm to dispute the EPA’s findings at a Superfund site failed to show the firm was responsible for misrepresenting the legality of the arrangement, the Alabama Supreme Court said.

David Roberson, formerly a lobbyist and vice president at Drummond Co., was found guilty along with a former partner at Balch & Bingham LLP in a Superfund bribery scheme involving a state representative in 2018. Roberson sued the firm and Drummond in Jefferson County Circuit Court in Alabama alleging negligence, fraud, suppression, and implied indemnity against the firm.
