Limetree Bay Hit With Class Action Suit Alleging Toxic Emissions

U.S. Virgin Islands residents brought a proposed class action lawsuit against Limetree Bay Ventures alleging that emissions from the company’s refinery, recently shut down by the EPA, caused shortness of breath and other illnesses.

The refinery in St. Croix allowed tons of toxic, carcinogenic pollutants to stream into the air of surrounding communities, attorneys allege in the complaint filed to the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands.

Plaintiffs in the vicinity of the refinery, including property owners and visitors, suffered from respiratory illnesses, vomiting, and an array of other symptoms from emissions, according to the complaint.
