Kids’ Climate Case Takes First Step Toward Supreme Court Bid

Plaintiffs in an ambitious climate lawsuit against the federal government took an initial step toward the U.S. Supreme Court late Wednesday, a course critics say could be disastrous to the young litigants’ cause.

The 21 children and young adults behind Juliana v. United States, the so-called kids’ climate case, asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to freeze the official mandate that would cement its recent ruling against them—giving them time to pursue Supreme Court review or explore settlement options with the Biden administration.
