Key to EVs is Domestic Critical Minerals, Michigan Democrat Says

Michigan Democrat Debbie Dingell is working with pivotal moderate Joe Manchin and the environmental community about options to boost domestic critical mining production for electric vehicle batteries.

“The environmentalist community understands how important this transition is,” Dingell said Friday during an online briefing with the Zero Emission Transportation Association on EV costs and federal investment.

Dingell has talked to Sen. Manchin (D-W.Va.), chairman of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee and a key vote in the evenly divided Senate, who has expressed concern over the lack of critical mineral mining and processing in the U.S.
