Justices Urged by Lawmakers, States to Limit EPA’s Climate Power

Republican members of Congress, GOP-led states, and conservative legal groups insist that executive authority on emissions regulation is limited, according to a slew of support briefs filed this week in a Supreme Court case that has major implications for future climate change rules.

The Cato Institute, the state of Kentucky, and 91 Republican members of Congress were among the parties who filed amicus briefs Monday in West Virginia v. EPA, which seeks limit how the Environmental Protection Agency can regulate greenhouse gas emissions from stationary sources under the Clean Air Act.
