The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the Trump administration to respond to a petition from environmental groups opposed to the U.S.-Mexico border wall.
The federal government on March 5 waived its right to answer the petition—a move generally reserved for cases the solicitor general’s office views as meritless. But the justices have now requested a response by April 16.
