Judge Blocks Water District Plan to Study California Dam Raising (1)

The Westlands Water District, which has connections to the president’s Interior secretary, cannot plan to raise the height of a dam at California’s largest reservoir, a Superior Court judge has ordered.

Shasta County Superior Court Judge Dennis J. Buckley ordered Westlands on July 29 to stop acting to raise the dam and to halt environmental reviews until a trial can be held on both topics. The ruling was in response to an injunction request filed by Attorney General Xavier Becerra in May.
