Japan Offshore Wind Spots Shouldn’t Disrupt Local Fishing: Panel

The Japanese government should pick locations for offshore wind development that don’t disrupt local fishing, a government panel recommended in an interim report.

The panel’s recommendations are meant to help the government compile guidelines for local municipalities and companies before Japan enacts a law in April to promote offshore wind power development. The government should spend about 10 months choosing the spots and developers should be invited to place bids for the right to develop the sites, according to the report.
