International Finance Corp. Immune From India Pollution Suit

An international organization that funded an Indian power plant is immune from a lawsuit over pollution because the case centered on activity that occurred outside of the U.S., a federal court in Washington ruled.

International Finance Corp., which includes the U.S. as a member, is immune from the suit under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ruled Friday on remand from the U.S. Supreme Court.
