Interior Reverses Trump Stance That Put Hurdles on Offshore Wind

The Biden administration sided with the offshore wind industry Friday, rescinding a legal opinion under President Donald Trump that made it tougher for companies to place turbines off of U.S. coasts.

The Interior Department Solicitor’s Office issued a new opinion “that highlights the importance of striking a rational balance between multiple, potentially competing factors when making a decision on offshore renewable energy activities,” an agency spokesperson said in an email.
