Interior OKs California Crimson Solar Plan After Trump Slowdown

The proposed Crimson Solar Project in Southern California received federal approval Monday, making the first solar power plant approved for public lands in the Biden administration.

Recurrent Energy LLC subsidiary Sonoran West Solar Holdings LLC plans to build the 350 megawatt solar photovoltaic project near Blythe. It is expected to provide electricity for up to 87,500 homes.

The plant will be built on about 2,500 acres the Bureau of Land Management oversees in an area designated for development under Southern California’s Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan.
