Interior Land Policy Critic Snags Department Appointment

Karen Budd-Falen, a Wyoming attorney and longtime critic of how the federal government manages public land, will be the new deputy solicitor for parks and wildlife in the Interior Department.

Budd-Falen “brings extensive industry experience to the Department, and we are excited to have her on our team,” department spokeswoman Faith Vander Voort told Bloomberg Environment Oct. 17. She confirmed Budd-Falen’s new position but said she hadn’t started yet.

Her new job consists of handling legal matters for the National Park Service and the Fish and Wildlife Service. The position doesn’t require Senate confirmation.
