Idaho Logging, Road Project Blocked Despite Wildfire Risk

The U.S. Forest Service’s logging and road building project in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest is temporarily suspended pending a lawsuit by an environmental group, a federal court in the state ruled.

Alliance for the Wild Rockies told the court that its members use the project area for hiking, wildlife observation, and other activities. The project, if allowed to proceed, would harm their ability to experience the area in an undisturbed state and enjoy grizzly bears, elk, and other species, the group argued.
