HP, Varian Medical Owe $1 Million for TCE Cleanup, Lawsuit Says

HP Inc. and Varian Medical Systems Inc.'s predecessors’ operations in Palo Alto released trichloroethylene that seeped beneath neighboring properties and delayed a new development, a partnership alleges in a lawsuit filed in federal district court in California.

Doheny-Vidovich Partners said the companies’ predecessors disposed of hazardous substances at four sites, which contaminated groundwater under its property. The partnership seeks about $1 million from the companies to recover the costs of cleanup, according to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
