House GOP Seeks to Raise Threshold For Industry Air Permits (1)

Power plants, refiners, and manufacturers wouldn’t need air pollution permits for some modifications to their plants under draft legislation released May 15 by the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

The draft bill would limit the scope of modifications at large industrial plants that trigger the need for a new permit under the Environmental Protection Agency’s New Source Review program by revising how emission increases are determined.
