House Energy Panel Advances Efficiency, Clean Energy Legislation

A House Energy and Commerce panel on Jan. 9 advanced nine bills to boost energy infrastructure and clean energy, though Republican critiques suggest there will be hurdles to many of the measures becoming law.

Several of the bills had bipartisan support on the Energy and Commerce’s Energy Subcommittee. Those bills generally authorized more modest federal funding, including a bill that would reauthorize incentives of $10 million a year to produce hydropower and improve hydroelectric efficiency.
