House Democrats’ Climate Bill to Seek Zero Emissions by 2050

Democratic leaders on the House Energy and Commerce Comnmittee unveiled legislation Tuesday that aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and includes a mandate that utilities obtain 100 percent of their electricity from “clean” energy sources.

  • Bill by Chairman Frank Pallone, D-N.J., would require retail electricity supplies to provide an increasing supply of power from renewable, nuclear and other sources of clean power starting in 2022.
