House Adds Wide Range of PFAS Provisions to Defense Budget Bill

House lawmakers on Wednesday approved a wide-ranging package of PFAS provisions to a Department of Defense bill it’s debating that would authorize appropriations up to $740 billion.

The 236-186 vote came one day after the White House objected to a provision, already in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 (H.R. 4350), that would bar DOD from purchasing food packaging, sunscreen, clothing, shoes, car wax, and other goods containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS.
