HILL ENERGY BRIEFING: Ultra Conservatives Return to NatRes Panel

The Republican roster for the new House Natural Resources Committee contains several conservative firebrands, guaranteeing lively debates over energy and federal lands this Congress.

Among the familiar faces on the panel are Lauren Boebert (Colo.), Matt Rosendale (Mont.), and newly reinstated Paul Gosar (Ariz.), according to a statement from Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.). The three withheld votes to elect Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as speaker throughout multiple rounds before finally relenting, allowing McCarthy to amass sufficient support to win.
