Legislation that would allow the president to bar selling gasoline at “excessive” prices passed in the US House Thursday, as Democrats seek to address record-high prices at the pump.
The bill isn’t expected to muster the Republican support needed in the Senate. Still, it gives Democrats a talking point as they return home for a two-week recess with the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline setting a new record every day for the past 10 days.
