HILL ENERGY BRIEFING: House Panel Advances Energy, EV Measures

The House Energy and Commerce Committee yesterday advanced $150 billion for a clean electricity performance program and a $13.5 billion electric vehicle infrastructure plan as part of Democrats’ tax and spending legislation.

Under the measure, the Energy Department could use $150 billion in grants as incentives for utilities to reach the Biden administration’s goal of operating on 80% clean electricity by 2030. The grant would be $150 for each megawatt-hour of clean electricity above 1.5% of the previous year’s clean electricity, according to the bill.

The standards would rule out natural gas within the suite of eligible clean electricity sources. ...
