Group Sees Review as Step to Returning Grizzly to California (1)

Environmentalists hope that a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service review of the recovery status of the endangered grizzly bear will convince the agency to reintroduce the bear to California and other parts of the West.

The Fish and Wildlife Service is initiating a five-year review of the status of the grizzly in the Lower 48 states, according to a Federal Register notice scheduled for publication tomorrow.
