Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) has asked President Donald Trump to explain why 59 percent of leadership positions at the Interior Department have yet to be filled.
Among those empty slots are directors of the Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, and the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement, Grijalva, the chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, said in a June 12 letter.
The Interior Department also still doesn’t have a deputy secretary or special trustee for American Indians, Grijalva said.
