Groups Fail to Block Logging in California’s Wine Country (1)

Gualala Redwood Timber LLC can proceed with its logging project in California, a federal court in the state ruled after agreeing with the company that one plaintiff already challenged the environmental impacts of the project in state courts.

Friends of Gualala River and the Center for Biological Diversity argued the Dogwood Timber Harvesting Plan that authorized logging in a private forest on the border of Sonoma County threatened four protected species. The species include the California red-legged frog, northern spotted owl, the Northern California steelhead, and the California Central Coast Coho salmon.
