Gas Drilling Plan in Colorado Sent Back for Government Retooling

The federal government’s failure to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act in approving gas drilling in Colorado’s North Fork Valley doesn’t require the plan to be vacated, because there’s a “serious possibility” it can substantiate the decision based on new data, the District of Colorado said.

Applications for permits to drill in the area will be suspended while the case is remanded to the Bureau of Land Management to analyze newly provided data, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado said Dec. 10.
