FWS Needs to Reconsider Protections for Yellowstone Bison: Suit

The Trump administration violated the Endangered Species Act by deciding not to protect distinct populations of bison in and around Yellowstone National Park, environmental groups say in a new lawsuit filed in Washington, D.C. federal court.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service declined to launch a status review on whether to list the animals as endangered or threatened in a September 2019 finding, saying petitions for action didn’t present “substantial scientific and commercial information.”
