‘Flushable’ Wipes Suit Down the Drain, For Now

Costco Wholesale Corp., Procter & Gamble Co., and others won dismissal of a proposed class suit by a sewage system operator alleging “flushable” wipes clog pipes.

The Preserve at Connetquot Homeowners Association, Inc. sought only injunctive relief—an order that would stop the companies from marketing their wipes as flushable or safe for sewer systems.

But the Preserve, which runs a 40-home townhouse community and operates a sewage treatment system, lacks standing to bring the suit, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York said.
