A national study on the health effects of drinking water contaminants linked to child development problems and increased cancer risk would be funded in the omnibus spending bill passed by the House March 22.
“It is completely unacceptable that parents in our community, and those in affected communities across the nation, have to worry about the safety of their children’s drinking water because of this contamination,” Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.J.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations and Armed Services Committees, said in a statement.
