Fish and Wildlife Delays Trump Rule Easing Spotted Owl Safeguard

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is again delaying a decision on the fate of a Trump administration push to exempt millions of acres land from habitat protections for the northern spotted owl.

The effective date of the Trump final rule was revised to Dec. 15, the agency said in a notice, giving it time to decide whether to withdraw the plan or revise it. The action extends the first delay the Biden administration announced March 1.
