Finland Seeks to Persuade EU on Carbon Neutral Emissions Goal

Finland will lead a new push by a majority of European Union countries for the bloc to become carbon neutral by 2050, seeking to overcome opposition from some Eastern European members.

The Finnish government will try to bring EU leaders to a common position on climate neutrality by the end of the year, Finland’s climate minister Krista Mikkonen told the European Parliament’s Environment Committee July 23.
