FERC’s Robert Powelson to Resign as Commissioner in Mid-August

June 28, 2018, 10:04 PM

FERC Commissioner Robert F. Powelson announced his resignation on Twitter, saying he will become president and CEO of the National Association of Water Companies.

Powelson was the only Republican on the commission who openly opposed Energy Secretary Rick Perry’s efforts to subsidize uneconomic coal and nuclear power plants.

In his Twitter statement, Powelson said it has been the “honor of a lifetime” to serve in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and thanked President Donald Trump for nominating him.

FERC’s communications office and Powelson did not immediately return request for comment.
