FEMA Resumes Flood Insurance Policy Sales Amid Shutdown

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is resuming the sale of new insurance policies and the renewal of expiring policies, rescinding earlier guidance on suspended sales amid the partial federal government shutdown.

All National Flood Insurance Program insurers have been directed to return to “normal operations immediately” and advised that the program will be considered operational since Dec. 21 without interruption, FEMA said in a Dec. 28 statement.
