Feds Ignored Climate Effects of Oil, Gas Leases, Groups Say (1)

The Trump administration failed to account for the climate change impact of granting more than 1,000 oil and gas leases on federal lands across five western states, advocacy groups told the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

The Department of Interior and the Bureau of Land Management didn’t consider the greenhouse gas emissions that would result, or analyze the impact of those emissions as required by the National Environmental Policy Act, WildEarth Guardians and Physicians for Social Responsibility said in a complaint filed Jan. 9.
