Feds, State Officials Seek Leaky Florida Wastewater Pond Fix (2)

Federal engineers will work with state and local officials to fix a phosphate plant reservoir that threatens to flood areas near Tampa Bay, Fla., Rep. Vern Buchanan said Monday.

The 480 million gallon reservoir at the Piney Point plant began leaking late last month, according to an emergency order by the state. A breach over the weekend prompted evacuation orders for over 300 residents and a governor’s office declaration of a state of emergency.
