Fate of Kids’ Climate Suit With Ninth Circuit, Oregon Judge Says

The fate of a novel climate lawsuit brought by a group of mostly teenagers is now solely in the hands of a federal appeals court in San Francisco, a lower court judge ruled Nov. 21.

The lawsuit, Juliana v. United States, will remain on hold pending a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on whether the case can proceed, according to a Nov. 21 order by Judge Ann Aiken, the federal district court judge in Oregon overseeing the matter.
