‘Fake’ Border Wall Hearing by House Democrats Riles GOP

Republicans are crying foul over Democrats’ use of the trappings of Congress to push an agenda without bipartisan participation.

The dispute arose after Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.), chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, convened a public meeting Jan. 16 to criticize the environmental consequences of President Donald Trump’s promised border wall.

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) called the meeting a “fake hearing” in a Jan. 16 tweet.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) did something similar in early December, holding a raucous climate change town hall in a Senate office ...
