Exxon, Shell, Chevron Face Climate Suit from Hoboken, N.J. (1)

Hoboken, N.J., is taking big oil companies to court over climate change, joining a steadily growing legal movement to make the industry cover the costs of local impacts from a warming planet.

Mayor Ravi Bhalla (D) announced the lawsuit Wednesday, saying the city just across the Hudson River from Manhattan “has directly felt the impacts of climate change, including rising sea levels and more frequent storms.”
