Exxon, Chevron Targeted by Annapolis in Latest Climate Case (2)

Maryland’s state capital is taking aim at oil and gas companies in the latest effort to hold the industry liable for the impacts of climate change.

The city of Annapolis filed suit Monday, accusing 25 companies and the American Petroleum Institute, a trade group, of misleading the public about the leading role fossil fuels play in heating the planet. The case joins nearly two dozen others that have cropped up nationwide over the past three years from state and local governments trying to defray the local costs of climate change.
