Extra PFAS Research Funds Spread Through House EPA Spending Bill

Democrats have scattered millions in added PFAS research dollars in the fiscal 2021 EPA-Interior spending bill headed for markup on Friday in the House Appropriations Committee.

The PFAS funding increases—detailed in a 247-page committee report released Thursday—would be used by the Environmental Protection Agency to study the class of “forever chemicals” throughout the agency. They include chemical, agricultural, and water research efforts as well as expansion of PFAS reporting under its Toxics Release Inventory, which collects data from industry on their chemical releases.
