EU Governments Back ‘Forever Chemicals’ Elimination Push (1)

European Union countries have gotten behind a push to phase out a family of chemicals known for their extreme persistence in the environment, saying in a statementMonday that they should be eliminated.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, “require special attention since they pose threats to human health and the environment,” according to the statement issued by the Council of the EU, which represents EU member governments.
