EPA’s New Region 6 Chief Expects to Work on States’ Rights

Ken McQueen, the new chief of EPA’s south-central region, says he expects to play a role in EPA’s broad effort to expand states’ rights to issue permits for discharging pollutants into federal waterways, especially in New Mexico and Texas.

“I think that will be one of the forefront policy initiatives that we address here,” McQueen, who was named by the Environmental Protection Agency Aug. 5 to head Region 6, told Bloomberg Environment on Aug. 6.
