EPA Weighs Chemical Policy That May Backfire on Industry: Critics (1)

A proposed chemical policy to allow the EPA to narrow its chemical safety reviews could backfire and hurt chemical makers that the Trump administration intends to help, a former agency official told Bloomberg Environment.

But a supporter of the policy disagreed, saying it would reduce redundant regulations.

The Environmental Protection Agency plans to omit from some chemical safety reviews ways people could be exposed that “fall under the purview of other EPA-administered statutes,” the agency said in a draft document obtained by Bloomberg Environment.
