EPA Sends Ethanol Law Reset Rule to White House for Review

The EPA sent a proposed reset rule on the Renewable Fuel Standard, which is the program that mandates the use of biofuels like ethanol to be mixed with petroleum, to the White House’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs for review, according to a government notice.

The reset sent May 20 creates a potential opening for the Environmental Protection Agency to lower targets that oil industry leaders argue aren’t feasible.

The statutory thresholds that compel a reset have been triggered, the agency said in the notice.
