EPA Seeks Durable Waters Definition, Nominee Tells Senate Panel

The Biden administration is trying to understand Obama- and Trump-era difficulties in defining federal waters as it moves to protect waterways, President Joe Biden’s pick to lead the EPA’s water office told a Senate panel Wednesday.

The Environmental Protection Agency wants to arrive at a durable definition of federal waters, known as the Navigable Waters Protection Rule, that can survive in future administrations, Radhika Fox said during a confirmation hearing before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
