EPA Science Integrity Official Lays Out Chemical Review Rules

The EPA’s scientific integrity office is working on a “multi-pronged” approach to fix lapses in how its chemicals office ensures that its science is objective and free of bias or political interference, a senior agency official said Tuesday.

Part of that effort will include a new system under which, if scientific information or opinions are changed at the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention, “we all know it’s been changed” and the individuals who made the changes are held accountable, Francesca Grifo, the agency’s scientific integrity official, said on a webinar.
