EPA Runs Out of Time to Include Outdoor Workers in Ozone Data

The EPA didn’t have time to model the health risks outdoor workers face when exposed to ground-level ozone, an agency official said Dec. 5.

EPA clean air adviser James Boylan, speaking at a meeting of the Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee, asked why outdoor workers were left out of risk modeling that the EPA performed as it reviews its current ozone limits.

“The short answer is we had time constraints,” said Stephen Graham, a physical scientist with the Environmental Protection Agency Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards.
