EPA Regional Office Revamp Aims to Mirror Headquarters

The EPA chief wants to reshuffle the agency’s 10 regional offices.

The Environmental Protection Agency intends to alter its regional offices to more closely mirror the structure of the headquarters office in Washington, acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler wrote in a Sept. 6 email to staff obtained by Bloomberg Environment.

Congress ultimately would have to sign off on the reorganization, Wheeler wrote. The EPA’s Office of Administration and Resources Management will lead a working group to draft the plan to send to Senate and House appropriations committees, he added, though he didn’t lay out a timeline for the ...
